This is now my favorite

I am black. My hair is 4b very dry, long, and very tangly. Not many products come close to making my hair manageable. I saw a recommendation for this product on youtube from a black hairstylist. I must say, this product is the best I've ever had on my hair. It really is no nonsense on my tangles. It tames my frizz, and once the hair is dry, it does not swell up the way it usually does when I go outside. The hair stays tame. The conditioner is just as great. It really glides through my curls effortlessly. I don't even have colored treated hair. There's no longer a 'fight' when I have to detangle my hair, and I actually look forward to wash days now. . This stuff is amazing. And I love the scent. I used it side by side with redkens megasoft all curls. They both are great, but when I want more of a smooth volume, I will use the redken and when I want more tame hair, I will use this joico. I can imagine it being amazing when doing a silk press because it really keeps the hair flat.

The shampoo is a restorative one, but we know, right?, that it is not possible to restore hair from shampoo. So why do I take a restorative shampoo? It's simple, I expect the most gentle cleansing from such shampoos, no squeaking of hair and tangling during washing. I need a shampoo that does not turn my hair into a washcloth (yes, shampoos cannot restore hair, but they can certainly worsen its condition). Did Joico K-PAK shampoo live up to my expectations? Yes, and once again, yes! But let's take everything in order. Appearance. Packaging. I have a 300 ml shampoo, so I'll describe it. It is in a gold-colored plastic bottle (typical of the entire restorative line). Nice design, simple but tasteful, one might say in the spirit of professional products. The lid opens easily and closes firmly. Composition and consistency. You can see the composition in the photo. To be honest, I am not very good at compositions, especially in shampoo compositions. It is worth noting that the shampoo contains useful substances: hydrolyzed keratin, evening primrose oil, kukui seed oil... But how effective are these substances in the shampoo, because it is on the hair for literally a few minutes. Nevertheless, thanks to this composition, you can count on gentle hair cleansing. As for the consistency - the shampoo itself is quite thick, creamy. It has a pearlescent color. I would also like to note a very pleasant aroma, it is light, floral, if you smell it directly from the bottle, it seems a little cloying, sweet, but during use I feel only freshness. I can't say whether the aroma of the shampoo remains on the hair, since after that I also use other care products (masks, balms, leave-in products). In principle, there is nothing special about the shampoo, the manufacturer recommends holding the shampoo on your hair for a minute, I did it and then washed it off right away, well, I can’t say that there are any differences in the end. If you have time, then why not hold it on. The shampoo foams well, the first time it may not give a very rich foam, but I always wash my hair twice and the second time the foam turns out great (although the presence of rich foam is not always a guarantee of high-quality cleansing, I have had such shampoos). I apply the shampoo only to the roots, there I whip up the foam (massage) and then rinse it off, that is, the length is washed with just the flowing foam. For me, this method of application is the best, but even if you wash your hair completely with shampoo (I did this a couple of times), the shampoo does nothing bad to your hair, it’s just a matter of habit. I have oily scalp, I wash my hair about once every 2-3 days, the shampoo copes well with pollution, and with this shampoo you don't have to wash your hair more often (this happens with restorative shampoos). As for cleansing, everything is great here) the shampoo gently cleanses the hair, even with quite intensive massage of the roots, the hair does not get tangled, when washing off the shampoo, it seems to smooth out. For me, it is very important that the hair does not get tangled, since then I have to comb it when wet, otherwise I simply will not comb it when dry. Here, I can calmly leave my hair alone after washing and comb it when it is dry. the price is high but it's worth it.

Obsessed!

So my hair has absolutely been through it all, bleach and color remover mainly and a couple months ago I started to really feel the damage. I tried numerous drugstore products meant for repairing damage and I didn't exactly feel too much of a difference so I opted to spend the money on something high end. I bought both the shampoo and conditioner and no joke, I immediately felt a difference in my hair. Normally after shampooing my hair feels dry and squeaky but with this shampoo it felt smooth and silky. I left the conditioner in longer than the bottle said and my hair was so soft coming out of the shower. I followed it up with the redken acidic bonding leave in treatment and my hair felt awesome. Don't get me wrong though the ends of my hair are still a bit dry but I don't fault the product for that part. The actual appearance of my hair was different too! Two people at my job thought I might've gotten a haircut because it was so much less frizzy! These are my thoughts after one use so I'm excited to continue using them regularly and see what happens. If you are planning on purchasing I would definitely get both the shampoo and conditioner! xx

Great shampoo & conditioner!

I have dyed hair to cover up the greys and I also have extensions. I have struggled to find a shampoo and conditioner that I really like and that doesn't strip the colour away and have to say that Joico K-Pak really does the best job for me. It is quite lightweight and delicately scented and since I started using it my hair has been exceptionally healthy looking. I would recommend.

Don't buy the bigger size bottles

I love this shampoo, but the bigger bottles are not the same as the smaller bottles. I have purchased both and thought I would be saving money by purchasing the bigger bottles and from my experience the product is not as good as it is in the smaller bottles. My favorite thing about the shampoo is it smells great and makes my hair feel clean and soft and is protective since I dye my hair.

Great product as long as you really rinse well

I recently started coloring my hair with fashion color. I have uswd a few other sulfate free shampoos in search of best preservation. This one is winning by a landslide. I see the least amount of color in my suds when using this shampoo. HOWEVER, you really have to be mindful when rinsing. It took me several uses before realizing that I need to rinse much more deliberately than I do with other shampoos I have used my whole life. When it is rinsed well, my very fine hair does not start looking greasy at the roots until day three. Even then, it really doesnt look terrible. Hit it with some dry shampoo and I really can go 3-4 days between washes.

Locks in Color & Shine - A Must-Have Shampoo!

This shampoo is a game-changer for anyone looking to boost their hair's vibrancy and shine. It works wonders in locking in color, making it last longer and look more radiant. The formula feels luxurious and leaves hair feeling soft and manageable without any heavy residue. The scent is delightful, adding a refreshing touch to the whole experience. It's perfect for those who want to maintain their hair's health and color between salon visits. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to keep their locks looking salon-fresh!

Definitely works!

Love KPak products! Usually use the Reconstructor Shampoo but as I’ve coloured my hair thought I’d try this. Gorgeous product as expected, and my towel definitely has less colour on it, so it is working! My hair feels greasier 1 day earlier when using this shampoo but that’s not a deal breaker for me. I’d recommend all of the KPak range.

Love!

I have med length hair and thick. This is concentrated, so I only need about the size of a dime! The past month this has made the strands of my hair softer amd stronger. The smell isnt myfave because I prefer sweet smells as opposed to more musky smells but i only notice the smell while washing. Also, my hair is less greasy so im washing less!

Great color protecting shampoo

I've purchased this product before and l liked then. Now, I like it even more! Joico K-pack shampoo & conditioner smells great and leaves my hair feeling silky soft. I have noticed that it does help keep my color looking fresher in between trips to my hairdresser.

Left hair a little dull and dry.

Bought shampoo, conditioner and lustre lock for my slightly dry dyed long hair. I wanted to like it, left the conditioner and mask on as directed, wrapped head etc for maximum benefit etc, but just not great for me sadly. Left hair a bit dull and dry, and my hair is naturally very shiny and not in bad condition so not a good result.

Only For EXTREMELY damaged hair.

Seeing a lot of negative reviews regarding this product, and I would like to clarify some things about it so one can make better decisions about haircare. First, it's for colored extremely damaged hair PERIOD. If you research keratin, it's well known for helping hair that's extremely damaged ONLY. Otherwise, if you continue to use it, it will definitely dry out and possibly damage it. This is common knowledge. There are NO SULFATES in this line, nor parabins or silicones. About a year ago during Covid, I had to color my hair and I stupidly did a bayalage at home. Don't ever do this! The bleach frizzed and destroyed my beautiful wavy to curly light brown hair. I tried many products before this, including Redken Color Magnetics. The Joico K-Pak is outstanding, once you understand a few things about these products. Now I only use Joico once per week, and Redken Color Magnetics all other days. NEVER WASH YOUR COLORED/HIGHLIGHTED hair within 24 to 48 hours of having it done. It will destroy the color. Joico is still a great brand. One just needs to be better informed about caring for colored, highlighted, etc. hair. Redken Color Magnetics and Joico K-Pak are the only two products I will use. I hope my review helps.
