Best affordable hairdryer

I tried this dryer at my gym and was wondering why my hair was always better if I showered at the gym. I finally eliminated that it was the dryer and had to get it for home too. I LOVE it. It dries my hair really quickly and leaves it so soft and smooth and so much easier to style afterwards. It’s so easy to use. I do think the lowest setting is a bit strong, but it’s fine for me. It is not very quiet compared to the Dyson, but I think for value for money it is really good compared to the Dyson. It is light weight and the cable is long to plug in and stretch to another mirror. I would 100% recommend to everyone.

I really hate this hairdryer

So the first issue i had with GHD Helios hairdryer is the fact no one mentions about the weight of this. Having small delicate wrists I found it such a strain to hold and cross over during blowdrying. Secondly, it's extremely powerful (and not in the goodcway) compared to my last hairdryer I owned (babyliss from 2006 to present) which was a good reliable hairdryer which lasted forever! The problem i had with such power was that it would blow my hair around to extreme and my hair would knot up and fly away from tge brush, drying hair too quickly before it's begun being styled. I really feel this hairdryer is way over-rated and can actually see the amount of marketing that goes into promoting this hairdryer (using influences to promote it). Had i known the truth i wouldn't have splurged on such an expensive hairdryer afterall most hairdyers in 2025 do the same thing. Lastly, what really annoyed me was the button controls. Too many buttons (2 buttons) which only made it difficult holding with the weight and having to change settings as im styling... my wrist was throbbing almost instantly. I actually kept dropping the hairdryer as I was changing settings and unable to hold my round brush. Don't buy this if you have weak/small/petite wrists!!!

Another great product, Thanks GHD

Recently upgraded from an Air to the Helios, dropped my previous dryer which didn’t do it any favours. The Helios does what is says, it dries hair super quick; the cool shot button seems to be better placed, it is certainly easier to use on the Helios. Loving the lighter feel of the dryer in hand when using and the longer cable helps with versatility of location use around the home. One nozzle supplied with the dryer, which is a good one and really makes sure you can direct the air flow to where you want it. Appliance colour choice has improved, which is good to see, especially for those who have preferences, or wish to coordinate grooming accessories, which I love to do. If this one lasts as long as the Air did (over 10 yrs use), then it will be well worth the price point. Aside from the fabulous hairdryer, I have noticed a change in the plug; this now has shallower sides, which can make it a little trickier to unplug if you have another appliance in an adjacent socket or have difficulty gripping smaller items, or maybe that’s just a me thing.

Best hair-dryer Ive had

I love using my Helios hair-dryer. Drys my hair quickly & is its not too hot like some other cheaper brands. It's quieter too. Easy to hold and use. Love the colour! I saw this one elsewhere then found it cheaper at Myer with the heatbag included. Always an easy pleasant online shopping experience with Myer too. My order was processed quickly & arrived in good time.

This hairdryer is worth it

I purchased this hairdryer as a replacement for my 15 year old GHD Air hairdryer, which served me well but was heavy. I was concerned about the weight of the Helios, and if it was worth the price. I'm so glad I went ahead with my purchase. This hairdryer not only looks gorgeous, it is light. Combined with a ceramic round brush, I somehow manage to give myself a smooth, professional, salon worthy blow-dry even with my amateur technique! Easy to use and manoeuvre as I work with the round brush at the back of my head. For reference, I have medium-to-thick frizzy textured hair, and a short bob. Overall I'm super pleased I made the investment. Just wish I'd done it sooner!

A MUST HAVE

I bought myself this gift , the GHD Helios in black. I have been wanting this for so long, eversince I bought the GHD hair straightner a few years ago. The hairdryer looks amazing; black with the silver. I love the feel of the hairdryer, its very light and easy to use. I like the different settings but I find that the first setting is strong enough to dry my shoulder length hair. My time spend on drying my hair is shorter with the Helios. I am so happy that I spoiled myself with this wonderful GHD Helios after contemplating for a few years if it was worth spending this money although I new it was because of the hair straightner that sold GHD to me. I love GHD products money well spend.

Good but a little heavy and quite large

It's a good dryer but I personally find it heavy after a while and it's rather large If your hair doesn't take too long to style I'm sure you will be fine. My hair takes a long time to dry and style and I find the dryer too heavy compared to my previous one. Not sure I'd buy again because of the size and weight . Good price from John Lewis and very fast delivery

Expensive Fire Hazard

product is only warrantied if you register it or if you have not removed the cord tag for two years. for this price, you think it would be longer. I've spent less on dryers that lasted much longer. bought this a while ago, recently finally opened because my other dryer finally died....and it has barely lasted for a hundred dries! there is a flame and spark coming from inside when it heats up and when I reached out to the company this week, they told me they could not help me, but to discontinue use. well, that sucks, because who has an extra 300$ to buy a replacement dryer.... not me! I am trying to come up with rent! I was shocked when I provided video footage of the malfunction there was little regard for the inconvenience and safety concerns, and a lack of attempt to resolve it. they offered me a 5% rebate towards a new product... which comes out to about ten bucks. thanks for the help! /s I also feel like my vision was damaged from the amount of times this piece of garbage went off while I was using it. picture attached to see what I was dealing with. company says they are unaware of how to correct and that they're sorry for the "inconvenience". this is my second GHD to fail within no time

OK but not great.

The hairdryer is very powerful. I have thick hair but the hairdryer dries it too quickly, before I have chance to style it, even on the lowest settings Also, the on/off controls are difficult to manouver with one hand. Not very well designed in that respect. I expected better for the price. Maybe the designers should actually try the product themselves to see if they are user friendly. I'd heard such praise about GHD so feel dissapointed. On the plus side. It is lightweight.

PERFECT BLOW DRYER!

This GHD blow dryer is hands down the best I have ever used so far. After much research and comparison, I decided to invest in this model, and I am extremely satisfied with its performance. It's lightweight as well, making it ideal for travel or everyday use at home. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality blow dryer that delivers great results.

Excellent

I have wanted one of these for a while and so pleased to pick one up on sale. It is excellent. It has the usual standard controls - heat, power and cool shot. The styling nozzle fits nice and tighly and is very narrow for better accuracy. It's also surprisingly quiet and lightwieght. Very well manufactured.

Worth the price. So efficient!

Bought this during a Cyber Monday sale, with good savings. Was replacing a VERY old hair dryer, and had been looking at the Dyson, but couldn't quite bring myself to spend that money. However, I did want to spend an amount to ensure I would get a good, long-lasting hairdryer that I would use for the next 10+ years. Overall, I have loved this hairdryer so far. PROS: - Pretty design (I got white) - Extremely efficient. While it took 15-20 minutes to dry my medium-thickness, curly, shoulder-blade length hair with my old hair dryer, this truly only took 5-8 minutes with the diffuser. - As others have said, highest heat setting is hot but doesn't burn your scalp. - Seems to minimize frizz, but don't have enough uses yet to say for sure. CONS: - Yes, price, but seems a good investment. - As others have noted, does not come with a diffuser. For this price, it should. I will try not to take it as a personal affront to curly-haired users such as myself. :) Does come with the cone/blade/thingy I've never used on my curly hair. - Not super light, but won't hurt your wrist or forearm either (and I don't have too much to compare it to).
